About Al Seef
'Al Seef' in 'Dubai Marina' area project description
Al Seef refers to two distinct projects in Dubai, but none align precisely with the Dubai Marina area. The prominent Al Seef is a mixed-use waterfront destination along Dubai Creek in the historic heart of Dubai, adjacent to the Al Fahidi Cultural Historical Neighborhood. Developed by Meraas, a Dubai-based holding company, construction began around 2014 and completed with retail and F&B opening on September 28, 2017, followed by the Zabeel House Mini hotel in spring 2018. The contemporary district, designed by 10 DESIGN, spans 670 meters of creek waterfront across 85,000 square meters, featuring standalone pavilions for retail, food and beverage outlets, hospitality, marina amenities, and parking. These pavilions open fully onto a promenade, blending indoor and outdoor spaces, with F&B water pavilions extending into the creek via terraced, cascading landscapes. Landscape architecture by Cracknell includes a cantilevered deck, open promenade, dining terraces, sculptural seating, reflecting pools, and a marina boardwalk, split into heritage-inspired arcades, souks, and narrow streets on one side, and modern urban elements on the other. The 1.6-1.8 km stretch connects by boat to the gold and spice souks, forming a circular route in Old Dubai.
Al Seef Tower, a separate residential project in Dubai Marina developed by Deyaar Development PJSC, completed in April or December 2005 after early construction in the area. This 44-story tower (B+G+M+43 floors) offers 242 units from one- to three-bedroom apartments and penthouses, with a built-up area of 830,000 square feet. DAR handled architectural design, civil engineering, construction supervision, and interiors, featuring Mediterranean-inspired exteriors with granite cladding on ground and podium levels, ornate Arabian-patterned screens for parking ventilation, a communal swimming pool, gym, recreational spaces, 24-hour security, CCTV, and car parking. The tiered tower design shows balcony variations, topped by gulf-style wind tower motifs and a central pyramid crown overlooking Jumeirah Palm Islands.
Al Seef (Creek) lies 20-25 minutes drive from Jumeirah Beach via Sheikh Zayed Road or Al Khail Road, with abra boats from creek jetties providing scenic access. Al Seef Tower in Dubai Marina offers direct beach access: 5-10 minute walk to Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) beach via pedestrian paths along Al Sufouh Road or Marina Walk promenade.
Nearby Dubai Marina projects include Marina Crown (612 units, completed 2005), Sulafa Tower (702 units, 2010), Elite Residence (695 units, 2012), and 23 Marina (289 units, 2012). The creek Al Seef neighbors Al Bastakiya quarter. Both enhance Dubai's lifestyle offerings, blending heritage and modernity.
